History of Lady Bay skatepark
People’s Hall, Nottingham, 2025
Curation | Art Direction | Graphic design | Photography
A small group exhibition that aims to pave the way for larger heritage projects focused on the expansive skateboarding history of the city of Nottingham. This show delved into people’s archives for their snapshots of Lady Bay, one of Notts’ oldest skateparks with the most diverse history - having had 4 different iterations of a skatepark since 1999.
Hosted in the historic People’s Hall building in Hockley, the exhibition room featured old wallpaper that gave the exhibition a ‘bedroom chic’ feel - reminiscent of a young skater’s bedroom with images of skateboarding stuck all over the walls. Guests were invited to jot down and illustrate their memories of this skatepark. This exhibition was part of ‘Skateboarding in the City III’, a 4-day festival of skateboarding culture hosted by Skate Nottingham CIC.
